Equal Opportunity & SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell
Government General Degree College, Ranibandh, located in a
predominantly ST region, upholds the values of the Indian Constitution by
promoting equitable access to higher education for SC, ST, OBC, Minority,
and other disadvantaged students.
In 2025, the college has merged the Backward Class
Cell with the newly established Equal Opportunity Cell, renaming it
as the Equal Opportunity & SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell.
The Cell functions in
line with constitutional provisions to foster an inclusive and
discrimination-free academic environment, disseminate information on
scholarships and welfare schemes, and provide academic, career, and personal
support for the holistic development of students.

Objectives:
The primary objective of the Equal Opportunity & SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell
is to promote inclusiveness and address all matters related to equality,
welfare, and empowerment of students from disadvantaged sections. The
specific objectives are:
1.
To manage and resolve issues concerning SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and other
disadvantaged students of the college.
2.
To ensure equal opportunities in admission, teaching-learning processes,
evaluation, and participation in institutional activities.
3.
To create awareness among students about various scholarships,
fellowships, and welfare schemes offered by the State Government,
Government of India, UGC, DST, and other agencies and NGOs.
4.
To provide academic, career, and psychosocial support for holistic student
development.
Activities:
The Equal Opportunity
& SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell carries out the following activities:
1.
Circulating relevant
notices, guidelines, and directives issued by the State Government, UGC, and
other statutory bodies.
2.
Informing and assisting
students in applying for scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid
schemes.
3.
Providing support to
students facing academic, social, economic, or personal challenges.
4.
Organising awareness
programmes and counselling sessions on equal opportunity, social
justice, and constitutional values.
